The shield is surrounded by a circular legend in Latin script reading the royal title of Frederik III. The crown surmounting the shield is rendered in the baroque style typical of mid-seventeenth-century Danish coinage. The overall composition reflects the heraldic aesthetic characteristic of the reign of Frederik III. |
