Obverse description Central crowned rectangular shield with rounded angles bearing the arms of Denmark, flanked by ornamental devices featuring either three or four pointed projections depending on the variety. The shield is surrounded by a circular legend in Latin script reading the royal title of Frederik III. The crown surmounting the shield is rendered in the baroque style typical of mid-seventeenth-century Danish coinage. The overall composition reflects the heraldic aesthetic characteristic of the reign of Frederik III.
