1 Skilling Dansk - Christian IV

Christian IV's reign saw Denmark deeply entangled in the early phases of the Thirty Years' War, and the crown's finances reflected it. Billon coinage — silver so debased it barely qualifies — was the predictable output of a treasury under strain. The skilling issues of this period were produced in substantial quantities to meet everyday transactional demand, which means surviving examples are usually worn flat.

KM#67 spans four years of production across what were effectively war-preparation mintings. Christian would formally enter the conflict in 1625, two years after this type ceased production.
