Obverse description Royal cipher of King Christian IV of Denmark occupies the central field: the interlaced letter C encircling the numeral 4, surmounted by a royal crown, with the initial R to the left and P to the right, and the letter F above the crown. The entire device is contained within a beaded inner border, characteristic of the hammered coinage of the period. The design is bold and deeply struck, with the monogram elements rendered in a vigorous early 17th-century style.
