| Reverse description | The denomination I SKILLING DANSKE is inscribed in three lines at the centre of the coin within a raised circular border, flanked above by two rosette ornaments and below by the mint master's initials C♥W, with the date 1740 immediately above. The surrounding exergual legend reads DE DANSK·AMERIC·EYLAND·KAAB·MYNT (the mint of the Danish American Islands), distributed around the periphery in capital letters separated by pellets and a floral stop at the top. The overall design is bold and legible, typical of utilitarian colonial copper coinage of the period. |
