Aanvullende informatie

Kenya's shilling coinage of this period was issued under the Central Bank, established only in 1966 following the collapse of the East African Currency Board — a colonial monetary arrangement that had served Kenya, Uganda, and Tanzania jointly since 1919. The breakup was driven partly by Tanzania's socialist economic policies under Nyerere, which made a shared currency politically untenable. Each successor state moved quickly to assert independent monetary institutions.

The KM#14 "with legend" designation distinguishes this type from an earlier variant, a distinction worth confirming against the specific piece in hand.
