Reverse description Cruciform arrangement of four crowned shields of arms occupying the central field, with the date divided on either side of the uppermost shield. The quarters display, clockwise from top: the arms of England (three passant guardant lions), Scotland (a rampant lion within a double tressure), France (three fleurs-de-lis), and Ireland (a harp). A radiant sceptre-star ornament is positioned at the center of the cross, formed by the interstices of the four shields. The whole is surmounted by a royal crown above the top shield. The circumscribed Latin legend MAG·BR·FRA·ET·HIB REX· with the date 1685 reads around the periphery within a milled border.
