Aanvullende informatie

Fiji's shilling coinage was administered through the colonial Currency Board system, with dies prepared by the Royal Mint in London and striking contracted out accordingly. The 1937 issue marks the first year of George VI's coinage for Fiji following Edward VIII's abdication in December 1936 — Edward's reign was so brief that no Fijian coins were struck in his name, leaving a clean succession directly from George V to George VI in the local series.

The .500 fine silver specification was standard for British colonial Pacific issues of the period, matching the alloy reduction introduced in British domestic coinage in 1920.
