Reverse description A tall, naturalistic palm tree rises from a rocky ground with low vegetation at its base, centrally positioned within an inner circle formed by decorative scroll ornaments at either side. The word SPECIMEN appears above the date 1936, the trunk of the palm tree bisecting the date. The outer legend BRITISH WEST AFRICA arcs across the top, with ONE SHILLING along the lower periphery. A dentilated border runs around the entire reverse.
