The harp, a symbol of the lordship of Ireland, is surmounted by a Tudor crown with ornate arched detail. A beaded inner circle surrounds the central device, and the Latin motto legend runs continuously around the outer field. The overall composition is typical of Elizabethan Irish coinage, struck on a slightly irregular flan characteristic of hammered production. |
