| Description du revers | The reverse of the underlying Spanish 2 Reales displays the Pillars of Hercules design with two crowned columns flanking a globe, representing the Old and New Worlds, with the mint date 1758 partially visible in the lower exergue area. The legend UTRAQUE UNUM is partially legible around the upper periphery, separated by rosette stops. Dominating the center of the reverse is a large oval or circular Jamaican counterstamp bearing the crowned royal cypher 'GR' (Georgius Rex), applied by Jamaican authorities to validate the Spanish coin for local circulation at a value of 1 Shilling 8 Pence. A small hole is evident at the lower rim. The milled edge border remains partially intact. |
