Reverse description Saint Marinus, the patron saint of the republic, is depicted standing facing, nimbed and vested in richly detailed episcopal robes, holding an open scroll in his right hand. The figure rests on a plain ground line, with the engraver's signature PERANZA incised below. The surrounding legend RELINQVO VOS LIBEROS AB VTROQUE HOMINE — the saint's traditional valediction — arcs around the periphery, while the denomination UNO SCUDO appears in the lower field. The design is rendered in sharp, high-relief engraving characteristic of San Marino's gold coinage of this period.
