The four quadrants formed by the arms of the cross are open and unadorned. The Latin devotional legend AVE CRVX SANTA ET BENEDICTA — Hail, Holy and Blessed Cross — runs continuously around the field between the inner beaded border and the irregular hammered outer rim. |
