Obverse description Large ornate foliated cross occupying the central field, with a rose at the center intersection and a decorative leaf motif filling each of the four angles; the entire cross design is enclosed within a beaded or linear circle. The mintmaster's initials appear in the exergue below. The peripheral Latin legend reads around the coin, naming the Doge Giovanni Corner and his title as Dux of Venice.

Reverse description The facing winged Lion of St. Mark, rendered in high relief within a large ornate baroque cartouche or shield, its wings spread prominently and its body shown frontally in heraldic style. The shield is elaborately decorated with scrollwork and foliate ornamentation surmounting it. A horizontal line separates the main device from the exergue, within which the denomination numeral '140' appears flanked by decorative stops. The circular Latin legend SANCTVS · MARC · VENET surrounds the design, invoking the patron saint of Venice.
