正面铭文 LVD·PICVS·II·MIR·CON·Q·DNS
背面描述 An ornate cross pattée centered in the field, its four arms embellished with decorative elements including torches or columns and winged figures, with a small floral rosette at the central intersection. The cross is executed in the elaborate Renaissance style characteristic of Italian hammered gold coinage of the mid-sixteenth century. The design is contained within a beaded inner circle. The surrounding Latin legend IN·TE·DOMINE·CONFIDO, meaning 'In Thee, O Lord, I trust,' reflects the religious piety conventional to Renaissance Italian rulers.

附加信息

Ludovico II ruled Mirandola under perpetual external pressure — the tiny duchy had survived French occupation, Imperial entanglements, and the ambitions of the Este to its south, and its coinage reflected a deliberate effort to project legitimacy through conformity with the gold standard of the major Italian states. The scudo d'oro format mirrored the Florentine and Milanese issues circulating through the Po Valley trade networks, a conscious political choice as much as a monetary one.

Mirandola's mint output under Ludovico II was never large. CNI IX records only two die pairings for this type, and surviving examples are correspondingly scarce in any condition.
