| Obverse description | Crowned Este coat of arms at centre, quarterly divided by a cross, surmounted by a decorative helm with mantling and flanked by two small animal supporters. A circular Latin legend surrounds the shield, running along the inner border of the coin. The field is plain and the coin is struck with a characteristic beaded outer border typical of hammered Italian Renaissance gold coinage. |
