(Translation: Jodokus A Recke Episcopus Darpatensis Jodokus von Recke, Bishop of Dorpat)
Reverse description Central field displays a crossed sword and episcopal key in saltire, enclosed within a beaded inner circle, symbolising the temporal and spiritual authority of the Bishopric of Dorpat. The sword points to the right and the key extends to the lower left, as is conventional for Dorpat schillings of this period. A Latin legend in Gothic-influenced lettering reading MONETA NOVA DARPATENSIS surrounds the central device between the inner and outer beaded borders. The overall style is consistent with hammered Livonian billon coinage of the mid-sixteenth century, showing characteristic weakness of strike and irregular planchet.
