| Reverse description | Central field displays two crossed keys, the traditional symbol of the Bishopric of Dorpat and an attribute of Saint Peter, rendered in high relief against the flat hammered field. The keys are shown saltire-wise, with their bows at the base and wards pointing upward and outward. A beaded inner circle frames the device, outside which runs the Latin legend MO · NOVA · TARPATA ·, separated by pellet stops, reading Moneta Nova Tarpatensis (New Coin of Dorpat). The overall style is consistent with Baltic episcopal coinage of the mid-sixteenth century. |
