| 正面描述 | Central field displays a shield bearing the arms of the Livonian Order — a sword erect upon a cross — enclosed within a beaded inner circle. Above the shield, a small globule or orb is visible at the top of the field. The surrounding legend, rendered in Gothic-influenced Latin capitals, runs along the outer margin and reads GOTHART · M · LIVO, identifying Gotthard Kettler as Magister of Livonia. The overall style is typical of late medieval hammered billon coinage, with slightly irregular flan and moderate die wear. |

Gotthard Kettler issued these schillings during the final convulsions of the Livonian Order's political existence. The Livonian War, launched by Ivan IV in 1558, had already shattered the Order's military capacity by 1560, and Kettler was simultaneously negotiating the secession that would dissolve the Order entirely — he would formally submit to Polish-Lithuanian suzerainty in 1561 and receive the Duchy of Courland as a hereditary fief. Coins struck in his name at Reval belong to a minting authority that ceased to exist within months of their production.
The "round bottom" distinction in Haljak's classification refers to a specific die variant in the lettering of the reverse legend — a minor but catalogued difference that separates this piece from the flat-bottomed variant, Haljak II#209.
