| Obverse description | Printed in green ink, the obverse carries the large numeral "1" at center against a rising sun vignette with radiating rays, flanked by palm tree motifs at left and right. The inscription "SATU RUPIAH" appears in bold letterpress below the central vignette, with the authority text "BERLAKU UNTUK SUB PROPINSI SUMATERA SELATAN" across the upper portion beneath the header "REPUBLIK INDONESIA / TANDA PEMBAJARAN JANG SAH". The serial number, place and date "BUKITTINGGI, 1.1.1948" are printed below, along with the manuscript signature of the Governor of Sumatra. |
