Obverse description Uncrowned bare-headed bust of King William IV facing right, with naturalistic hair rendered in fine detail. The effigy is boldly modeled in high relief within a toothed border. The legend WILLIAM IIII. KING. encircles the bust, reading from lower left to upper right, with stops separating the elements. The portrait is executed in the neoclassical style characteristic of William Wyon's work for the East India Company patterns of this era.

Reverse description Central denomination ONE RUPEE in two lines, with the date 1834 below, all set within a symmetrical wreath of laurel tied at the base. A lotus blossom appears at the top of the wreath, above the denomination. The circular legend EAST INDIA COMPANY appears around the upper portion, accompanied by the equivalent denomination inscribed in Bengali, Urdu, and Devanagari scripts in the lower arc, all contained within a toothed border.
