| Obverse description | Left-facing effigy of King Tribhuvan Bir Bikram Shah Dev set against a multi-pointed star radiating from behind the portrait. The king is depicted bare-headed in a plain truncation, rendered in a restrained relief style. Devanagari inscriptions reading the royal name and titles are arranged around the effigy, divided into four quadrants between the star's points. A border of equal denticles frames the entire design. |

The Devanagari legend denoting the Government of Nepal arcs along the upper periphery, while the denomination 'Ek Rupaiyan' (One Rupee) is inscribed in Devanagari along the lower periphery.
