Nepal's first copper-nickel rupee came out of the early years of Tribhuvan's restored rule, following the 1951 revolution that ended a century of Rana oligarchy and returned executive power — at least nominally — to the crown. The "equal denticles" designation distinguishes this type from a related variety where the denticle spacing on the obverse and reverse rims differs, a byproduct of die preparation inconsistencies at the India Government Mint in Calcutta, which struck these on Nepal's behalf.
