Reverse description The bold numeral '1' dominates the upper centre of the field, with the Urdu denomination legend 'روپیہ' (Rupee) inscribed immediately below in Nastaliq script. The central motif is encircled by a wreath of flowering stems bearing small five-petalled blossoms and paired leaves, tied at the base with a bow, creating a complete decorative frame around the denomination. The entire design is enclosed within a dentilated border consistent with the obverse.

Additional information

Pakistan's monetary authority periodically commissioned pattern strikes to evaluate proposed design or compositional changes before committing to full production runs. This 1991 nickel brass plated copper piece was part of that testing process for a reduced rupee type — the plating technology itself was under evaluation, as plated coinage offered cost savings over solid alloy blanks but introduced new concerns about long-term wear and delamination in tropical circulation conditions. The "smaller type" designation indicates dimensional reduction from the preceding issue was also on the table.
