The legend reads 'La ilaha illa Allah / Muhammad rasul Allah / Zarb Kabul', presenting the Islamic declaration of faith (Shahada) above the mint name 'Struck at Kabul'. Pellet rosettes and interlaced floral arabesques fill the intervening compartments, consistent with the decorative vocabulary of the Kabul Mint during the reign of Sher Ali Khan.
