| Reverse description | The reverse displays a three-line Arabic inscription arranged across the field, divided into compartments by intersecting raised border lines in the traditional style of Afghan hammered rupees struck at Kabul. The legend reads 'La ilaha illa Allah / Muhammad rasul Allah / Zarb Kabul', presenting the Islamic declaration of faith (Shahada) above the mint name 'Struck at Kabul'. Pellet rosettes and interlaced floral arabesques fill the intervening compartments, consistent with the decorative vocabulary of the Kabul Mint during the reign of Sher Ali Khan. The flan is slightly irregular in outline, reflecting hand-hammered manufacture. |
