The central area bears the julus (regnal year) formula recording the regal year of Shah Alam II's reign, accompanied by the Hijri date. Decorative pellet motifs punctuate the inscriptions, consistent with Mughal hammered coinage conventions. A marginal border legend encircles the field, with additional formulaic royal epithets. The strike shows the typical slightly off-centre characteristics of hand-hammered Mughal rupees of the late eighteenth century. |
