Reverse description The reverse is divided into three horizontal registers of Nasta'liq Persian script, separated by curved lines in the traditional Mughal rupee format. The upper register records the mint epithet; the central register bears the frozen regnal year 19 (١٩) of Shah Alam II's reign together with the word 'Julus' (accession); and the lower register names the mint city of Murshidabad. Rosette or floral ornaments appear at the junctions of the legend bands, and the coin is encircled by a reeded border. The date is frozen at regnal year 19, a convention maintained by the Bengal Presidency at the Calcutta mint well after the actual year of issue.
