| Obverse description | Central field bears a multi-line Persian legend in Nastaliq calligraphic script, reading 'Sikka Zad Bar Haft Kishwur Sayaye Fazl Shah Alam Badshah Elah Hami Din Mohammad,' meaning 'Defender of the Muhammadan faith, Reflection of Divine Excellence, the Emperor Shah Alam has struck this coin to be current throughout the seven climes.'
