| Descrizione del dritto | Hammered silver flan bearing a bold Persian inscription in the name of the Mughal emperor Muhammad Akbar II, styled 'Shah Ghazi,' arranged across the coin field in characteristic late Mughal calligraphic style. The legend is divided by a horizontal line into two registers, with the royal title occupying the upper field and the regal epithet in the lower field. The lettering is rendered in a fluid Naskh-derived hand typical of early nineteenth-century Gwalior subsidiary coinage. The fields surrounding the inscription are largely plain, consistent with hammered technique. Peripheral portions of the legend extend toward the rim, which shows the irregular edge characteristic of hand-struck rupees of this period. |
