Obverse description Central field bears a multi-line Persian legend in nastaliq script, densely arranged across the flan and giving the name and titles of Shah Mahmud. A crescent device is visible toward the upper portion of the die. The overall layout is characteristic of Durrani-period hammered coinage, with the inscriptions boldly struck though somewhat irregular due to the hand-struck technique. The flan shows the typical uneven surface and slight cracking associated with Kashmir Mint production of this era.

Reverse description The reverse displays a multi-line Persian nastaliq legend in the central field, recording the mint name Kashmir (کشمیر) and the regnal year of issue. The inscription is enclosed within a beaded inner border, itself surrounded by a further beaded outer border following the irregular circumference of the flan. The strike is bold but uneven, typical of hammered silver rupees produced at the Kashmir Mint under Durrani authority. The field shows a heavily granular surface consistent with the alloy and striking method of the period.
