Obverse description The obverse bears a two-line Persian couplet in Nasta'liq script divided by a horizontal rule across the coin's field, reading 'Dar Aafaq Zad Sikka Chun Mihr-o-Mah' in the upper register and the emperor's titles and name 'Abul Fatah Ghazi Jahandar Shah' in the lower register. The legends are boldly engraved in the characteristic Mughal hammered style, with the calligraphy filling the flan to the rim. Floral or pellet ornaments appear at intervals within the field as typical decorative devices of the period.
