The obverse field displays the imperial Persian-script legend in two registers separated by a horizontal dividing line, reading 'Sikka Mubarak Badshah Ghazi Shah Alam Bahadur', identifying the nominal sovereign. The calligraphy is executed in a bold, slightly irregular hand typical of Maratha imitative coinage, with decorative pellet ornaments flanking the inscription in the upper field. The overall style closely follows Mughal prototype rupees of the late eighteenth century. |
