| 背面描述 | The reverse displays a prominent leaf motif accompanied by the Vikrama Samvat (VS) regnal year rendered in Persian Nastaliq script, with the mint name Zarb Srinagar indicated in the field. Decorative foliate and berry cluster ornaments surround the central inscriptions, consistent with the hammered coinage style of Jammu and Kashmir. The absence of the 'JHS' initials distinguishes this type from related issues of the same period. |

Gulab Singh acquired Jammu and Kashmir from the British in 1846 through the Treaty of Amritsar — paying 7.5 million Nanakshahi rupees for a territory the East India Company had just seized from a defeated Sikh Empire and had no particular interest in administering. His coinage from this period reflects the brief window before his mint practices were brought into closer alignment with British Indian standards. The window closed with his death in 1857.
