| Obverse description | The entire field is occupied by stylized Arabic-script legends arranged in three horizontal registers, rendered in a highly decorative and conventionalized manner characteristic of VOC Java rupees. Dot ornaments separate the individual inscription elements throughout the field. The date 1799 appears in Western numerals along the lower portion of the coin, below the Arabic script. A fine milled border encircles the entire design. |
