| Beschrijving voorzijde | Inscriptional couplet in bold Arabic script occupying the full field, rendered in the characteristic Afghan hammered style. The legend eulogizes Payinda Khan, the late father of Emir Dost Muhammad, in whose name the coinage was struck as a mark of dynastic legitimacy. The text is arranged in a multi-register format divided by intersecting lines, with small pellet ornaments filling the interstitial spaces. The calligraphy is robust and angular, consistent with the Kabul mint style of the early 19th century. The irregular flan edge, typical of hammered coinage, frames the design on all sides. |
