| Beschrijving keerzijde | Central field displaying the julus (accession) formula and the mint name 'Arkat' (Arcot) in Nasta'liq script, distributed across three horizontal registers delineated by ruled lines. The regnal year appears in one of the outer registers, with ornamental dot clusters filling the interstices. The layout follows the standard Mughal rupee format for provincial mints of the period, with bold, deeply struck lettering characteristic of the Arcot mint. |

| Aanvullende informatie |
Alamgir II was a Mughal emperor in name only — real power rested with his chief minister Imad-ul-Mulk, who would eventually have him murdered in 1759. The Arcot mint continued striking in his name throughout the period when the Nawabs of Arcot were themselves caught between competing British and French interests during the Carnatic Wars. Coins of this type circulated through one of the most violently contested regions of eighteenth-century India.
KM#12 is frequently encountered with weak central strikes, a consequence of the hand-hammering technique still in use at Arcot during this period rather than any flan preparation failure.
