Obverse description Central field bearing the royal epithet 'Alamgir' in bold Nasta'liq calligraphy, arranged across multiple horizontal registers framed by decorative lines. The name of the Mughal emperor Alamgir II is prominently inscribed in the central zone, with additional Persian legends in the surrounding registers. Dotted ornamental devices appear in the interstices. The inscription style is characteristic of mid-18th century Mughal provincial coinage produced at the Arcot mint.
