Obverse description The obverse is entirely occupied by densely arranged Naskh-style Arabic calligraphy filling the field from rim to rim without any border or linear frame. The central legend presents the Kalima Shahada — the Islamic profession of faith — with the text disposed in multiple registers across the coin's face. The name of the Prophet Muhammad appears in the lower portion, and the names of the four Rightly Guided Caliphs (Abu Bakr, Umar, Uthman, and Ali) are incorporated into the peripheral legend, a distinctive feature of Akbar's early coinage. The script is bold and deeply struck, with the interlocking letterforms characteristic of the hammered Mughal rupee tradition.
