| Obverse description | The obverse displays bold Nasta'liq Arabic script arranged in two registers separated by a horizontal line dividing the field. The upper register bears the imperial name and titles of the Mughal emperor Ahmad Shah Bahadur, rendered in large, deeply struck calligraphic strokes characteristic of 18th-century Mughal-derived coinage. The lower register continues the royal legend. Pellet ornaments and diacritical dots are scattered throughout the field, serving both as decorative elements and scribal markers consistent with Maratha imitative rupee production at the Katak mint. |
