توضیحات پشت سکه A central denomination inscription is enclosed within a wreath of laurel and palm branches, tied at the base. The legend EAST INDIA COMPANY arcs around the upper periphery, with the denomination ONE RUPEE displayed across the centre of the field. Below the wreath, the date 1840 is inscribed in exergue, accompanied by the Persian script denomination یک روپیے. The overall design is characteristic of the East India Company coinage of the early Victorian era.

اطلاعات تکمیلی

Ra's Bab al-Mandab sits at the southern tip of the Arabian Peninsula, commanding the strait where the Red Sea meets the Gulf of Aden — a chokepoint that made it worth fighting over. The 1 Rupee issues circulating here in this period were overwhelmingly Maria Theresa Thalers and Indian rupees pushed through by trade routes, not locally issued coinage. KM#369.1 raises immediate questions about attribution, as the Yemenite States designation covers a politically fragmented region that did not operate a unified mint in 1840.

Treat the issuer classification with caution. The piece likely entered circulation through Aden's British commercial networks, which dominated the strait following the East India Company's seizure of Aden in January of that same year.
