Reverse description A central denomination inscription is enclosed within a wreath of laurel and palm branches, tied at the base. The legend EAST INDIA COMPANY arcs around the upper periphery, with the denomination ONE RUPEE displayed across the centre of the field. Below the wreath, the date 1840 is inscribed in exergue, accompanied by the Persian script denomination یک روپیے.
