| Reverse description | The large numeral '1' dominates the upper central field, flanked by symmetrical olive-laurel branches curving upward from the base. The denomination РУБЛЬ is inscribed in bold Cyrillic characters beneath the numeral, and the date 1956 appears in the lower field above the tied branch ends. A punched trial-strike identifier 'A18' appears to the right of the numeral '1', serving as a die or specimen control mark characteristic of Soviet pattern and trial coinage. |

| Additional information |
In 1956, the Soviet monetary system was in flux ahead of the 1961 denomination reform that would revalue the ruble at 1:10. Trial strikes in brass from this period represent internal Mint experiments testing alloy compositions and planchet specifications — most were never intended for public release and the majority were destroyed after evaluation. Surviving examples exist almost exclusively through former state collections or controlled deaccessions decades later.
