1 Rouble Svityazyansky Nature Reserve

Svityaz Lake, the centerpiece of the Svityazyansky Reserve in Grodno Oblast, is the deepest lake in Belarus at roughly 58 meters — a fact that gave rise to regional folklore about submerged towns and drowned populations. The reserve was established in 1970 primarily to protect the lake's unusually clear water and the surrounding mixed forest ecosystem. Belarus has issued commemorative roubles tied to its protected natural areas since the 1990s, a series that now runs to dozens of types.
