Reverse description A detailed relief depiction of the Common Cuckoo (Cuculus canorus) occupies the central field, rendered in a naturalistic style consistent with the Bird of the Year series. Additional information

Belarus launched an extensive wildlife series through the 2000s and 2010s, issuing copper-nickel roubles at a pace that flooded the collector market and kept secondary prices modest. The Common Cuckoo entry, KM#537, is one of dozens in that run. The cuckoo carries an obvious irony for a coin series built on national pride — it is a brood parasite, raising none of its own young.
