| Obverse description | Bare-headed effigy of Emperor Alexander III facing right, rendered in high relief with finely detailed hair and a full beard characteristic of the tsar's well-known appearance. The truncation of the bust is cut sharply at the neck. A Cyrillic legend encircles the effigy, reading clockwise from the lower left, divided by a rosette ornament at the base. The border is formed by a continuous beaded or scalloped rim. |

| Reverse description | The Imperial Russian double-headed eagle displayed at the centre of the field, with wings spread, each head surmounted by a small crown and the whole device topped by a large Imperial crown with ribbons. The eagle's breast bears an escutcheon depicting St. George slaying the dragon, itself surrounded by an elaborate quartered shield bearing the arms of the principal territories of the Empire. The right talon holds a sceptre and the left an orb. Below the eagle, the denomination РУБЛЬ is inscribed to the left and the four-digit date with the abbreviation Г. (год, meaning year) to the right, separated by a rosette ornament, all within a beaded border. |
