Beschrijving voorzijde A crowned armored figure, facing front, stands erect within a ship, holding a sword in the right hand and a shield bearing the Flemish lion rampant in the left. The vessel's hull and rigging are rendered in fine relief characteristic of the Rose Noble type. To the left of the figure, a staff surmounted by a lion passant gardant is visible, flanked by a small quartered shield. The entire composition is enclosed within a beaded inner border, with the Latin legend distributed around the periphery reading MON : AVREA · RESTAVR · METROPOL · GAND · FLAND N T, referencing the restored gold coinage of the metropolis of Ghent in Flanders.

Beschrijving keerzijde A large floriated cross pattée occupies the central field, formed by two crossed scepters interlaced with a rose at the center, creating four lobed compartments each containing heraldic devices including lions, fleurs-de-lis, and the arms of Ghent. The elaborate symmetrical design is enclosed within a beaded inner circle. The circumferential Latin legend, reading NISI DNS CVSTOD CIVITAT FRVSTRA VIGILANT with the date 1582, is drawn from Psalm 127 and translates as 'Unless the Lord guards the city, the watchman stays awake in vain,' a fitting motto for the revolting city of Ghent.
