| 表面の説明 | The Omani national emblem occupies the central field, depicting a khanjar dagger in its sheath superimposed upon two crossed swords, all surmounted by a crown. The emblem is rendered in high relief against a smooth field. The legend around the periphery reads ONE RIAL in English and QABOOS BIN SAID - SULTAN OF OMAN, identifying both the denomination and the reigning monarch. |

Issued to mark the 30th anniversary of Sultan Qaboos bin Said's accession — the coup against his father Said bin Taimur on 23 July 1970 — this gold piece belongs to a commemorative program that Oman used strategically throughout the 1990s to court foreign collector markets. Qaboos had kept Oman almost entirely closed to outside investment and visitors through much of the 1970s, making the country's numismatic outreach one of the few visible international gestures of the period.
The .916 fineness places it firmly in the 22-karat crown gold tradition.
