Reverse description Central design features the Pillars of Hercules — two crowned columns wreathed with scrolling banners — flanking a crowned royal orb or globe set upon waves, representing the two hemispheres of the Spanish empire. The motto banner reads PLUS VLTRA on the column scrolls. The peripheral legend VTRA QUE VNUM encircles the upper field, with the mint mark 'LM' (Lima), date '1754', and assayer initials 'JD' positioned in the lower exergual area, all separated by dot stops. The overall design is typical of the 'Pillar and Globe' (columnario) type struck at Lima during the reign of Fernando VI.
