| 裏面の説明 | Two crowned Pillars of Hercules rising from stylised waves, representing the Strait of Gibraltar, with the motto PLVS VLTRA distributed across the field between and flanking the columns. Each pillar is surmounted by a royal crown. The design is characteristic of the cob-style (macuquina) coinage of the Spanish colonial mints, struck on an irregular flan with weakly defined peripheral areas typical of the hammered technique. A circular countermark applied by Canary Islands authorities in 1734 validates this piece as a 'Bamba' emergency currency. |
